Opel Club Cape Town
October 20, 2006 in Die Yard by Ferril (Farrel Hardenberg)
On Sunday, 15 October 2006, I went to the Opel Club Cape Town’s show at the Clock Tower innie Waterfront. Ek moet een ding sê… the mense I met there were kak nice and very friendly.
I naturally took some pics of the cars that were on show on the day. Very nice!! Cars that were there included 200TS’s, 200IS’s, Astras, Estates, brand new Opel OPC and some others.
What makes Opel Club CT shpeshl? What makes Opel Club CT different from the rest? Why would you perhaps wanna join this club?
These are the questions I asked Brendan Brown, Chairman of the Club – owner of an Opel Corsa 130i Sport, awaiting to be modded.
Firstly, OCCT (Opel Club Cape Town) has adopted a charity for the year 2006 (and looking at extending for more years to come) – The Maitland Cottage Children’s Home. Kids that deals with post-traumatic opperation stress and all sorts of goetes. The OCCT has raised tons of money for this mense, doing car washes, lekka braais, parties and obviously organising the sponsorships for these lekka events. Sponsors like Fruit n Veg, Prime Foods, Plascon and Thorp Delta which always provides OCCT premises for the car wash.
The OCCT is not your normal car fanatic club. Naai ouens, they don’t just wanna sign you up. They don’t wanna ses all your money and use it to modify their cars. They all about promoting the brand Opel. These are mense that has either had an Opel before, or currently still drives Opels!! So if you are an Opel fan, but don’t drive one, you can still join – there are NO PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT!! Any bra or kin can join!! And its all about fun, breakfast runs, braais, and hooking a bra up with lekka parts for your car.
So why join OCCT? Apparently, they NOT charging any joining / membership fees at the moment. So its FREE and for fokkol!! And the best part is you meet a klomp jitse mense!! Trust me… I’m waiting for the next event… or braai!!
